What: Funny Garbage creates a state of the art web site to support the launch of Fox’s Geraldo at Large news show.
Where: www.geraldoatlarge.com
When: October-November, 2005
Project Challenge: Geraldo Rivera has been one of the most recognizable and visible TV news personalities of the last 30 years. Fox News approached FG to create a site and content management system, one week before the initial launch of the show, to introduce and support Geraldo’s new daily news broadcast.
How did we do it? At the outset of the project Fox provided a logo and a high-level concept of the show design. Our team of information architects, designers and technologists led the Fox News team in an expedited and focused planning process to define the immediate and long-term goals of the site. We extrapolated a sophisticated and dynamic look and feel from the logo, and architected a site and management system to accomplished Fox’s initial marketing goals while remaining flexible enough to evolve with the success of the show.
Why was it successful?
- FG was able to draw on its expertise creating award winning web sites for large-scale media properties and entertainment personalities. We quickly and efficiently assessed the requirements of the Geraldo at Large site and collaborated with the Fox team to develop a unique design and set of functionality that supports the show’s goals and extends the brand.
- FG developed a state of the art Flash Video Player and an easy to manage video archiving system that automatically updates the video on the home page each night to promote the next day’s show. The video is then archived and available to the user through the blog, specific news features, or in the video archive section.
- FG created a multimedia Blog and corresponding RSS feed that enables the Fox’s traveling correspondents to post, edit and maintain information as their stories evolve.
